The Metropolitan Atlanta Community Band (MACB) and Groveway Community Group celebrate Black History Month with classical and popular music composed or performed by African American musicians. MACB, founded by renowned Atlanta music educator Dr. Alfred D. Wyatt (1928-2023), is based in Southwest Atlanta but has performed throughout Atlanta and Washington, DC. Now in its 27th year, MACB is headed by Principal Associate Director Curtis Byrdsong and Associate Directors Vanable Moody and Allen Ward. The 60-piece all-volunteer concert band is a non-profit organization that raises money for college scholarships and advocates for music education in schools. Anyone wishing to join the band or take part in its Student Participation Program may visit www.MACBonline.org.
