CRITIC’S PICK: Steve Forbert Duo, Eddie’s Attic—He’s the same scratchy voiced, evergreen boy he was when he exploded out of the NYC folk scene with 1978s appropriately titled Alive on Arrival. Forty-six years and a few dozen albums later, he’s still at it, cranking out comfy, sometimes driving, often humorous folk rock with sharp lyrics and a delivery best described as charming. Just check out his new tune, the strummy “Purple Toyota” which could easily have been included in his debut, or the witty “What’s a Dog Think” to realize that even at 70, he’s still the same scrappy folk rocker who sang the wonderful, and timeless, “Romeo’s Tune” in 1978. — Hal Horowitz
