Maurice “Mobetta” Brown, a
trumpet sensation, effortlessly navigates three musical worlds:
contemporary jazz, blues-rock, and cutting-edge hip-hop. Winner of the
Miles Davis Trumpet Competition as a teen, Maurice blends be-bop with
urban pulse, showcased in his acclaimed debut, "HIP TO BOP," recorded in
New Orleans. Post-Katrina, he thrived in New York, collaborating with
music icons like Aretha Franklin and The Roots.His
second album, "THE CYCLE OF LOVE," merged be-bop roots with hip-hop
hooks, earning accolades from NPR and Huffington Post. Joining the
Tedeschi-Trucks Band, Maurice's Grammy-winning horn arrangements defined
the band's sound. His groundbreaking alter-ego album, "MAURICE vs.
MOBETTA," fused jazz with innovative hip-hop beats, featuring
collaborations with renowned artists.Leaving TTB, Maurice reignited his
solo career, releasing "THE MOOD," blending jazz, soulful vocals, and
politically charged tracks. He toured globally with Anderson .Paak and
collaborated with jazz giants like Kamasi Washington. His versatile
talent also spans Broadway performances and collaborations with
Grammy-winning rapper Logic.
