CRITIC’S PICK: Despite Wild Rivers’ bucolic name, the platinum-selling Canadian vocal trio leans towards pleasant, slick, somewhat 70s Laurel Canyon pop. Opening for a Chicks tour gave them a shot at a larger audience, which leads to this headlining gig. They will feature tunes from a new album, Never Better, released this past July. For a minute, the intriguingly named UK singer/songwriter Jade Bird’s organic folk/rock slotted into the next-best-thing territory. But even though that hasn’t occurred, yet, her music is stirring and catchy.— Hal Horowitz
