From the venue:
The House Keeps a Ledger
The House Keeps a Ledger features paintings, sculptures, textiles, and photography that examine how the spaces we inhabit quietly record our lives. A house is more than shelter—it is a witness, an accountant, a vessel for memory. Within its walls, objects become ledgers of labor, inheritance, migration, and use.
Together, these works transform the house into an active archive. Rugs, drawers, fabrics, and façades—each records a kind of arithmetic, a tallying of absence and presence, intimacy and distance, belonging and displacement. The House Keeps a Ledger makes these quiet accounts visible, in textures, forms, and images. In doing so, it asks us to consider what our homes remember on our behalf, and what they might demand we reconcile.
Aineki Traverso, Narcissus' Pagoda
Wolfgang Gallery is pleased to present Narcissus’ Pagoda, a solo exhibition by Aineki Traverso that tethers historical, mythological, and personal narratives through painting and installation. This will be the artist’s first exhibition with the gallery.
Drawing inspiration from the myth of Narcissus, the exhibition delves into themes of observation, reflection, and performance. Narcissus’ Pagoda is an immersive, architectural dialogue between the subject and observer that focuses on the body of water that captures an unobtainable image. In this exhibition, the surface of the water serves as a lens, material, and performance object.
Within the gallery lies an on-site pagoda structure to serve as an allegory and vessel. Inside, reflections take on new significance, allowing viewers a deeply personal act of looking that bridges autobiography, perspective, and situational experience. Consisting of painting and installation, Narcissus’ Pagoda offers an intimate meditation on the intersections of myth, memory, and performance to immerse viewers in a landscape of the artist’s conception.
Aineki Traverso (b. 1991) is a painter based in Atlanta and a current resident in the Studio Artist Program at Atlanta Contemporary. She is a 2024 recipient of the Artadia Award as well as the foundation’s inaugural SEEN Award. Her work has most recently been exhibited in spaces such as Swan Coach House Gallery, Johnson Lowe, and Whitespace Gallery. Aineki has attended residencies at R&F Handmade Paints, Vermont Studio Center, Hambidge Center for Creative Arts, and VCCA. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in 2013 with a concentration in film theory.
