Event Description

Atlanta-based Flashlight Faces is how singer-songwriter Paul Buchholz blends his love of 70’s AOR from across the pond with a fascination with gothic literature and weird tales. These four veteran musicians came together to create a riffy, rocking soundtrack for Bucholz’ large and haunting collection of songs. Buchholz hooked up with Joe Binns (Elf Power, Allgood, Springwild) during the pandemic, and the two emailed the audio files back and forth that would eventually become their first record, ‘Off on the Moons, released in March 2023, with Englishman John Ballam joining on bass.
Flashlight Faces has since become a steady presence in the metro Atlanta rock scene, with organist Ryan Dawe joining in the summer of 2023. Their new LP ‘Fool’s Field,’ was recorded in April 2024 at Flossy Monk Studio. Featuring eight new vintage rock songs, the album captures the quartet at the height of their energy, and will release this July.

Lloyd Benjamin is a seasoned musician with nearly 30 years of experience playing with various bands in Atlanta, Georgia, and in his hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas (All Night Drug Prowling Wolves, Affection, The Looks, The Stranger Steals, The Divine Hook-up, and currently with Scratch Offs and Air Rights). During the pandemic, Benjamin found himself with ample time to organize and restructure a collection of song ideas, unfulfilled lyrics, and guitar parts recorded in kitchens and bedrooms along the way. Adding some new ideas and re-recording old ideas, the solo project evolved into a full-length album. “About Time” was released under the moniker Uneven Lanes on Max Recordings in 2021. Shortly after releasing “About Time,” Benjamin assembled a band with Greg Stevens (Scratch Offs, Hex Error, Don’t Scare the Animals) on drums and Tony Kerr on bass to perform the album live. Over the past few years, the punk rock Americana outfithas solidified into a sonic force. They are scheduled to release their second full-length, “Another Time,” in late summer 2024. The upcoming effort is a 10-song album of reworked and reimagined tracks from “About Time,” with the intention of capturing the energy of their live show and closing the first chapter of songwriting for Benjamin and the band.

A college radio DJ, choir member, cellist, and singer of Swedish synth-pop duo Neobox, her musical background could hardly have been more different than Eric’s. Nonetheless, their shared love of Rammstein and Bob Dylan led them to form Hitchcock Blondes in Cleveland, Ohio. They then moved to Atlanta, creating I Am a Rocketship to free themselves from the restrictions of conventional bands. In 2016 the duo released an album, Mission Control, followed by 2019’s Mind Grafitti. Ghost Stories, an 11-song album, was released in 2020, followed the same year by the 5-song oRAnGE.
As a bassist, guitarist, and singer, Eric Weissinger had opened for bands such as The Wedding Present, James, Cracker, and Portastatic. After playing on an Anne Richmond Boston album featuring Syd Straw, Marti Jones, Don Dixon, and Terry Adams, he took a break from music until a chance meeting with L E Kippner changed everything.
In 2021, the duo released the 10-song Lies and Legends. followed by 2023’s La Cruella. They are currently writing material for a 2024 release.
