Join Clint Fluker, Senior Director of Culture, Community and Partner Engagement for the Carlos Museum and Emory Libraries, and curator of Come Ruin or Rapture, in conversation with artist La Vaughn Belle, whose work repurposes materials affected by Hurricane Maria to express the resilience of people of African descent in the U.S. Virgin Islands in the face of both natural disaster and colonial powers.

This program is a part of dECOlonial Feelin, a symposium exploring colonialism, conceptions of sovereignty, Black resistance, and climate disaster in the U.S. Virgin Islands, presented by VISCO (Virgin Islands Studies Collective), Emory College, Emory Libraries and Museum, the Virgin Islands Caribbean Cultural Center, Atlanta Global Research and Education Collaborative (AGREC), and Clark Atlanta University Museum .

This symposium is free and open to the public, and registration is required HERE. For a full schedule of dECOlonial Feelin programs click HERE.

The exhibition Come Ruin or Rapture, will be open for viewing before and after the program until 8:30 p.m.
