Hot 8 Brass Band, The Masquerade—This ever evolving New Orleans brass band is always changing personnel but they carry on the spirit of their hometown on this, the “Big Tuba Tour.” It’s named for their new album, out in a few days, which incorporates hip-hop, funk, soul, jazz, blues and even rock in a brass band structure. They are known for their remarkable covers, and the new album’s version of Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine,” revamped for the full brass experience, is a perfect indication of their extraordinary playing and arranging talents. — Hal Horowitz
