Martha Wainwright

CRITIC’S PICK
Mon., May 5
Martha Wainwright, Haley Blais, Eddie’s Attic — The daughter of Loudon Wainwright lll and Kate McGarrigle clearly has music baked into her genes, similar to her brother Rufus. Although her approach is folk-based, she transcends and expands the concept of the strummy singer/songwriter with songs that twist and twirl in unusual, at times experimental directions. She has already written a memoir and has a handful of unique albums, including a set of Edith Piaf covers. Wainwright features tunes first introduced on her twenty-year-old debut along with new music from a recent EP appropriately titled 6 Songs. — Hal Horowitz
