Rev. Horton Heat, City Winery: Over the decades, wild man guitarist Jim Heath has occasionally expanded his raw, robust psychobilly towards more country and jazz-oriented side projects. But it’s the high-energy, reverb-laden rockabilly that keeps fans returning since his still crackling 1992 debut. It makes no difference that his band’s latest album was seven years ago because every show remains driven by a nitro-fueled, hot-rodded, retro rocking intensity few can duplicate. Hang on and bring ear protection, even in this sedate, seated venue (forget the crowd surfing like in the good old days), it’ll get loud. — Hal Horowitz
