CRITIC’S PICK: Colin Mochrie, Variety Playhouse: Mochrie is a great surname for a comedian, if you think about it. The actor, writer, producer and improvisation whiz best known for ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’ will be joined at Variety by local comics of that ilk. Who they are remains to be seen. Born in Kilmarnock, Scotland, Mochrie grew up in Canada and got his start with the Second City theater troupe in Toronto, where he still lives. One of his skits with the group consisted of a five-minute James Bond spoof in which Mochrie got into a downhill ski chase and parachuted off a roof.
