"Thinking with Pinks: Aesthetics in the Creation of Queer Worlds"
Yeong Ran Kim is a researcher and artist who sees aesthetic practices as a central means to build social movements that create unique moments of coming together. Their interdisciplinary projects draw together their research in contemporary queer culture with performance theory, Asian/American studies, gender and sexuality studies, and film and new media studies. Yeong Ran is currently working on a monograph, entitledQueer Unmastery: A Cultural History of Performance, Digital Media, and Social Movements in South Korea,which offers a critical cartography of queer aesthetics at the intersection of social movements from the 1990s to the present in South Korea.
