Lori Parks’ play tells the story of two brothers, Lincoln and Booth, who were saddled with their awkward names by their buffoonish dad. “Cast in a life of poverty and violence, the legacy of their namesakes on their backs, these brothers battle more than mere sibling rivalry,” the synopsis reads. Parks won a Pulitzer for her drama in 2002 when it ran on Broadway with Mos Def and Jeffrey Wright playing the leads.
AE Artistic Director Freddie Ashley says Parks has
“an expansive, free-wheeling imagination that is backed up with meticulous craft. It is a play of staggering emotional heft and extraordinary language.” This production features Lamar K. Cheston as Booth and Aaron Goodson as Lincoln, under the direction of Eric J. Little. - Kevin C. Madigan
