Hermanos Gutierrez, The Eastern — These Swiss brothers have been working their creative instrumental mix of Spaghetti Western, surf, Latino, world music and jazz since 2017. They got a huge boost once they signed with Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye imprint in 2022. The crossover reaction to this non-commercial music has been almost immediate, resulting in them selling out the Variety Playhouse their last time through town to a surprisingly — considering their subtle style — amped-up and raucous audience. They’re back with a superb new album, appropriately titled Sonido Cosmico (Cosmic Sound) that treads similar territory with a few fresh sonic twists. — Hal Horowitz
