Levitation Ceremony : A Curious Spectacle of Gravity and Wonder

CRITIC’S PICK
Fri., Apr. 25
Wonders await attendees of the Levitation Ceremony: A Curious Spectacle of Gravity and Wonder, which transpires at Pasaquan in Buena Vista on Fri., Apr. 25.
Based on extensive research and field recordings in the region by sound artist Joshua-Michéle Ross, the 3-hour long program (3-6 p.m.) promises to transform the entire fantastical 7-acre Pasaquan environs into what organizer Annie Moye calls “a real aural/visual positioning of this space.”
In addition to Ross, ceremony participants include students from the Columbus State University art department, the Schwob School of Music‘s Electronic Music class, and performance artist and faculty member Travis Dodd. – Doug DeLoach
From the venue:
Here’s a guaranteed special afternoon! Some of you may recall a Georgia Council for the Arts grant I co-wrote with Pasaquan director Michael Mcfalls a year ago called Seance to Summon a Garden. Well, that event is returning to Buena Vista with an expanded vision and a new name!
The result of hours upon hours of research and field recordings in the region by artist Joshua Michele Ross, the new program, Levitation Ceremony : A Curious Spectacle of Gravity and Wonder, will activate the entire campus of Pasaquan in an audio installation for three hours on Friday, April 25. I’m super excited about this one, folks, a real “aural/visual positioning” of this space that means so much to so many of us.
