Kasey Chambers: Backbone Tour

Kasey Chambers, City Winery: Twenty-five years ago it looked like Australian singer/songwriter Chambers was going to crack the US Americana market after the release of her well-received debut along with tours opening for Emmylou Harris and others. That never happened, although it wasn’t for lack of trying or talent. A dozen fine albums later, she’s still at it. The recently released Backbone is yet another example of how commanding Chambers is both as a songwriter and powerful vocalist combining the gravitas of Lucinda Williams with Harris’ floating tone. You’ll hear music from that album and plenty of other brilliant songs from a catalog as rich as that of any other Americana artist. — Hal Horowitz
