Lulu The Giant

CRITIC’S PICK:
Sun., July 6
Lulu the Giant, Eddie’s Attic — You have to love stand-up bass playing/singing/songwriting frontwomen, and Rachel “Lulu” Shaner has been at it long enough to be considered a veteran. The combination of noir jazz, sultry soul and pop, led by her rubbery bass lines is unique, sometimes creepy and often hypnotic. She gets a lot of sound out of just a three-piece band. Her new album, Solid Gold, is wonderful and Lulu knows how to deliver live. Don’t miss her. — Hal Horowitz
