The Ridibund Chamber Music Society began as a pandemic project spawned from the mind of Atlanta Symphony bassist and composer Michael Kurth.
Terminally bored during lockdown, he conspired to gather professional musicians from his Decatur neighborhood.
These brave souls would tread where few classically-trained musicians feel safe: tearing apart music of beloved composers like Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Satie, and splicing its genes with Nirvana, TLC, and the Allman Brothers.

The Ridibund Chamber Music Society is not your grandpa's chamber group. Under the creative direction of Atlanta Symphony bassist and composer Michael Kurth, the critically-acclaimed group dissolves boundaries between genres, moving effortlessly between traditional classical, hard rock, blues, pop, jazz, and contemporary post-classical, and has more fun doing it than they probably should.

Imaginative mashups of Debussy with Neil Young, Mozart with Frankie Valli, or Satie with Nirvana have opened audiences' ears and minds and left them laughing, singing along, and wondering what could possibly come next. Gregorian chant and REM? Bach, the Monkees, and Wham? Borodin, David Bowie, Fallout Boy, King Harvest, and ABBA? It's all part of our cultural DNA, so nothing's off limits.
