Little ones can be scientists, too! Visit hands-on learning stations focusing on the natural world. Suggested ages: 6 months – 5 years. Presented in partnership with the Atlanta Science Festival.
Activity Stations
Drop in between 10 a.m. and noon.
Join us as we explore how plants, animals, weather, and sound come together in the Garden! From listening closely to the sounds around us, to discovering how rain helps plants grow, young scientists will investigate the natural world through hands-on play and discovery.

Botanical Bliss – Plant marigold and watermelon seeds to take home and start your own garden!
What’s the Weather? – Explore how weather helps our Garden grow! Create a colorful wind sock to see how wind moves through the Garden, then visit our interactive weather station to learn about different types of weather. Watch a hands-on rain cloud demonstration and wonder together: What do you think would happen to our plants if they didn’t get rain?
Spring Birds – Investigate the fascinating world of animals living at the Garden. Have you ever noticed the different shapes of bird beaks? How might the shape determine what food they can eat? We’ll find out together in the Children’s Garden!
What’s That Sound? – Tune in to the sounds of the Garden! Explore musical instruments made from plants and experiment with the sounds of seeds as children compare how different natural materials make a variety of noises.

We may cancel or move indoors if rain, cold temperatures or inclement weather make outdoor programming impractical. To check the status, email classes@atlantabg.org.
