Kerry Kennedy in conversation with Pat Mitchell - Ethel Kennedy: The Extraordinary Life and Bold Legacy
CRITIC’S PICK
Tue., Oct. 20
Ethel Kennedy: The Extraordinary Life and Bold Legacy, by Kerry Kennedy, Atlanta History Center — The late Ethel Skakel Kennedy is the subject of a comprehensive biography that looks at both her private life and her substantial work as an activist and environmentalist. Written by her daughter Kerry Kennedy, the book covers Ethel’s early days in Chicago and her subsequent high-profile life in Greenwich after her marriage to Robert F. Kennedy. Following his assassination in 1968, Ethel founded an organization — now run by Kerry — to continue her husband’s uncompleted endeavors in support of human rights. Inevitably, the book delves also into myriad tragedies that befell the Kennedy family over the decades. Kerry, who served as chair for the Amnesty International USA Leadership Council for a decade, will discuss her book at the Atlanta History Center with Pat Mitchell, editorial director of TEDWomen. The ticket price to the event includes an autographed copy of the book. — Kevin C. Madigan
