Amy Rigby in conversation with Chad Radford - Girl to Country
CRITIC’S PICK
Sat., Oct. 24
Amy Rigby, Girl To Country, Criminal Records — A Cappella Books is bringing singer, songwriter, and author Amy Rigby to Criminal Records, where, starting at 4 p.m., she will sing, talk and plug her latest book Girl To Country, which she will also sign, of course. The event is free; the books are not. Her well-received debut memoir was titled Girl To City (2019) and chronicled her struggles to establish a foothold in New York City’s indie music scene back in the late 1970s and ‘80s. This new tome has the same wit and self-deprecating wisdom and is just as beguiling to read. The California Review of Books opined in a recent article: “It’s no surprise Rigby writes with the same nifty knack for homing in on detail that moves her sterling songs.” (You should also take a gander at her ‘Diary of Amy Rigby’ newsletter on Substack). Rigby is now ensconced in England and married to (Wreckless) Eric Goulden, with whom she often makes records and plays gigs, while persevering as a solo artist. — Kevin C. Madigan
