CRITIC'S PICK:

Baby Bipolar by Maria Mainelli, 7 Stages - Storyteller and actor Maria Mainelli is performing a solo show at 7 Stages based on receiving a bipolar diagnosis during the pandemic which led to her becoming an outspoken advocate for the cause. "It's a combination of stories of the worst things I've done while manic, the depression I've fought through, and a bunch of truly awful therapists," she wrote in an email to Creative Loafing, adding that her team has the support of the International Bipolar Foundation while drawing much-needed attention to mental health as they've been on tour. "Maria gives us an honest, shameless, and wickedly funny telling of the search for radical self love," says Director Fiona Campbell. "This show is the dose of hope and the hearty serving of belly laughs we've all been needing." - Kevin C. Madigan
