She is widely recognized as one of the most electrifying and innovative bassists of her generation. Born in 1996 in Kolkata and raised in Mumbai, she began performing professionally at the age of 11, quickly earning the reputation of a prodigy within India’s music elite. Her early collaborations with legends such as A.R. Rahman, Ranjit Barot, and Louis Banks established her as a formidable force in contemporary fusion. Known for her explosive technique, rhythmic command, and genre‑bending creativity, Mohini seamlessly blends jazz, rock, funk, Indian classical, and experimental music into a signature sound that is both virtuosic and deeply musical. Her global collaborations include performances and recordings with Steve Vai, Marco Minnemann, Jordan Rudess, Greg Howe, Zakir Hussain, Narada Michael Walden, and Willow Smith, among many others. In addition to her extensive session and touring work, Mohini is a founding member of the acclaimed fusion trio MaMoGi, alongside Mark Hartsuch and Gino Banks.
