Theatre in the Square looks to replace its old comedy-and-tragedy logo.

Marietta’s Theatre in the Square is holding a competition to replace the company’s logo. In advance of the playhouse’s 30th anniversary season in 2011-2012, and to coincide with its recent “face lift” (with a new facade, box office, bar and lobby era), the company wants to introduce a new logo as well. I’ve never given the old logo much thought, but the Comedy-and-Tragedy-Mask looks like the first thing that would come up in a Google search of theater clip art.

Winners will not only see the theater use their logo design for a minimum of one season, but will also receive $200 and two season tickets. The competition will run Nov. 15-Dec. 15, with the winner announced on January 5. FYI, the official rules includes the notice: “The use of the abbreviation TITS is not suggested.” Well, there goes my idea. How about “T-Square?”
