Theatre geeks and sci-fi nerds rule Dad's Garage's new season

The comedy-oriented playhouse promises villains, boobs and musical numbers for 2011-2012.

Dad's Garage Theatre has announced the line-up for its 17th season, which sounds like it's most heavily pop-referential slate to date.

 An Eighties Tit Comedy (Sep. 23- Oct. 14) Following its recent musical Slaughter Camp, Dad's Garage returns to a summer camp setting for this homage to teen T&A comedies of the 1980s, presumably inspired by the likes of Meatballs and Zapped! As the press release says, "Not only will there be zero gravity scenes set in outer space, there's even a Boob Robot named Boob-bot!" Written and created by Matt Horgan.

The Super Villian Monologues (Nov. 4-Dec. 3) I've been eager to see this since it played at last year's Edmonton Fringe Festival. Based on a concept by puppeteer Jason Von Hinezmeyer, who co-directs with Kevin Gillese, this evening offers a showcase of the maniacal, misguided speeches of masked evildoers.
