The chef who calls ramen her "soul food" is teaming up with Concentrics Restaurants (the Spence, One Midtown Kitchen, TAP) to open a ramen shop in Old Fourth Ward.

Mihoko Obunai, born in Japan and a graduate of the French Culinary Institute, certainly honed her skills composing vessels of broth-covered noodles with various toppings. Her previews pop-ups Ramen Freak at the SoundTable and Mibo Ramen at SoBa in EAV garnered long lines and waits for the steaming bowls as did her lunchtime stint at Miso Izakaya. In 2012 she trained with Kenshiro Uki (Co-founder of Sun Noodle) and Jack Nakamara at Ramen lab in New York City and was one of the five chosen "ramen masters" in the First Annual Ramen Battle.

NEXTO is slated to open this spring at 822 Ralph McGill Blvd., near Two Urban Licks. For more information: www.nextoatl.com
