NEWS BRIEF: Cost of Atlanta apartment rentals declining, report says
Landlords can’t always get what they want
Atlanta is one of the few large cities in the country that saw rents for one-bedroom apartments go down in 2021. According to rent.com, the city’s average declined by 7 percent versus the previous year, despite it being a hot construction zone. Two-bedroom rents also fell by about 2.4 percent, for a current average of $2,217. The drop in rent growth could be attributed to affordable housing initiatives and a plethora of available choices, sources said. The report looks at what renters are facing across the country two years into the pandemic. urbanize.city
