Parks all over Atlanta will be making major improvements as the result of a $2.3 million infusion from greenspace advocacy group Park Pride. The funding represents a nearly $1 million increase over last year’s grant cycle and is the organization’s largest ever. Park enhancements will include new playgrounds, safety and accessibility upgrades, erosion control measures, native plantings, new pavilions and pedestrian bridges, and more. Additionally, a press release stated 60 percent of the allocated funds will benefit parks in low-income neighborhoods. “We’re reaching those who have the greatest need for the benefits that parks provide: safe places to play, improved mental and physical health, cleaner air and water,” said Park Pride’s Executive Director Michael Halicki. parkpride.org
