NEWS BRIEF: Keisha Lance Bottoms denied service at Dunwoody restaurant
Ain’t it a shame? It’s (not) all right
The Capital Grille at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody refused to serve former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms over the weekend, according to multiple reports, claiming her casual garb was unsuitable for the venue. Bottoms found it “odd” that a mall restaurant would not permit mall attire. “I was just turned away at @CapitalGrille at Perimeter Mall because I have on leggings,” she tweeted Friday. “Asked if I could sit in the bar area and was told no.”
The restaurant’s website says gym apparel, tank tops, sweatpants and hats are not allowed in its “refined atmosphere” but social media users swiftly responded by posting photos of white patrons at the joint wearing articles of clothing just like the ones banned. “BLACK Democrat Mayor of Atlanta (my Friend) Keisha Lance Bottoms was refused service at @CapitalGrille,” actor Daniel Newman tweeted, “But WHITE Folk in Gym clothes and T-shirts are totally fine.” nbcnews.com
