NEWS BRIEF: CDC launches forecasting entity for future pandemics
$200 million for the Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics
A new U.S. government service that will help guide the response to future pandemics was launched Tuesday by the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with initial funding of $200 million from the coronavirus relief package of 2021. The Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics is housed at the CDC and is working with academic institutions to develop methods for modeling and forecasting.
