NEWS BRIEF: Atlanta airport fiasco kills ‘thousands’ of bees
Devastation, not honey, for these bees
Thousands of bees stuck in boxes outside Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport have died after being left in the heat with no sustenance, the Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association reports. The bees were supposed to be transported from Sacramento, California, to Anchorage, Alaska, but ended up spending four days at the airport due to a series of flight cancellations and a communication breakdown.
“It’s devastating to see that many dead,” said Master Beekeeper Julia Mahood. “Just clumps of dead bees that had no chance because they were left outside with no food.” miamiherald.com
