Spelman College’s new 84,000-square-foot Center for Innovation & the Arts will be named in honor of Mary Schmidt Campbell, the HBCU’s 10th president, according to a press release.

The $86 million center will be home to Spelman’s arts programs in dance, documentary filmmaking, photography, music, theater and performance, as well as the Art History and Curatorial Studies Collective, the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art and the laboratory hub known as the Arthur M.
