NEWS BRIEF: Independent news outlet seeks reporters for public meetings
Canopy Atlanta documenters will cover 50 government agencies across five metro Atlanta counties
Local residents are being invited to become de facto journalists with Canopy Atlanta, a new venture that trains and pays people to attend and take notes at public meetings; the results are then fact-checked, edited and condensed into a “digestible newsletter format,” according to WABE.
Documenters will be trained to use journalistic skills and will cover 50 government agencies across five metro Atlanta counties, founders Sonam Vashi and Max Resnik told the radio station. They said their independent news outlet “wants to make sure all metro Atlantans get the information they need to make informed decisions.” Details: wabe.org
