NEWS BRIEF: Zoo Atlanta unveils two wrinkled hornbills
Southeast Asian species now call the ATL home
Meet Malfoy and Strawberry, Atlanta’s two newest residents, flying to A-town from the jungles of Southeast Asia. These “newlyweds” are covered in black fathers, each have a large orange bill, protruding thread poaches, and blue skin around their eyes. They’re hoping to make friends of all ages at their enormous new home, Zoo Atlanta.
As you may have guessed, Malfoy and Strawberry are indeed two wrinkled hornbills, an endangered species that Zoo Atlanta’s Jennifer Mickelberg, PhD, vice president of Collections and Conservation, describes as “dynamic” and “highly engaging.”
The two will be located in the Corridor to Change pathway in the zoo’s Asian Forest. Atlanta Zoo has hopes that Malfoy and Strawberry will soon mate. wsbtv.com
