NEWS BRIEF: Braves/Mets rivalry heats up as New York take the divisions top seat
The two teams battle it out for first on September 30.
How ‘bout them Braves? The team is getting ready for a dynamic postseason as they head into their fifth consecutive playoffs, hot off last year’s World Series win. Can they clinch the highest title in baseball for the second year?
While not heading into the playoffs in the NL East’s top slot, September 30 begins the battle for first when they take on current first-place New York Mets in a three-game series.
The Mets took the top slot after a win against Milwaukee. Braves’ manager Brian Snitker had this to say before knowing the result of the Milwaukee-New York game, “If we get in the door, then we have given ourselves a chance. The number one thing is we want to win the division, and we’re right there to make that happen.” mlb.com
