NEWS BRIEF: Little Five Points’ Star Bar continues to hold its own in the media
Saving Atlanta’s ‘heart and soul’
When news first surfaced that the Star Community Bar in Atlanta’s Little Five Points neighborhood has a huge gentrifying wrecking ball aimed at it, its possible destruction garnered nothing more than outcries on social media. Now, reports of the dive bar’s possible demise has been reported on television and radio stations, as well as various print and online media outlets throughout the city and state. And rightly so, for the fight to save Star Bar is also the fight to save Atlanta’s cultural and historic landmarks before the city’s landscape becomes nothing more than miles and miles of multi-use developments lacking heritage, and, more importantly, heart and soul.
