Between: Art Exhibit by Alison Hamil
From the venue:
- Please note: For health and safety, we will not be hosting an opening reception, but this exhibition will be on view by appointment: alison at alisonhamil.com*
This exhibit runs through Dec. 7
Alison Hamil will give a private viewing to single households less than 4 people. The gallery is indoors. Masks are required at all times while at the Preserve.
In the exhibition ‘Between’, Alison Hamil challenges traditional methods of watercolor painting with her use of digital media and a large format inkjet printer. She creates large symmetrical pieces with brightly colored mandala-like designs combined with the organic flowing shapes of watercolor. The paintings are an exploration of the 7 chakras, a spiritual concept that has its roots in ancient Eastern spiritual philosophies.
Hamil is an interdisciplinary artist based out of her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. She has a diverse body of work including murals, graphic design, and paintings in watercolor and acrylic. Most of her work incorporates bold colors, graphic patterns, and symmetry, combined with elements of painterly realism. Nature is a common theme in her work, as well as interconnectivity and spirituality.
‘Between’, Hamil’s first solo exhibition, will take place in the gallery at the Blue Heron Nature Preserve in Atlanta, GA, where Alison is currently the 2020 Artist in Residence. Her relationship with Blue Heron spans several years, having painted two murals within the preserve and occupied a studio space there during the second half of 2018.
‘Between’ will surprise the gallery visitors and online viewers with the vibrant colors, unique processes, and thoughtful exploration of the artist’s spirit.
