From the venue:
Hammonds House Museum features author and lecturer Halima Taha in conversation with My View From Seven Feet artist Joe Barry Carroll and curator Leatrice Ellzy Wright. The Self-Taught Artists & the Blues Idiom gallery talk explores the American tradition of meritorious work by autodidactic artists, also known as self-taught artists - non-conformers who come through the Black Folk Art movement and their creative process working outside traditional studios with varied themes of figuration, landscape, and abstraction.
