From the venue:
Gallerist Shawn Vinson returns to DIFFERENT TRAINS GALLERY, May 5th, 6th and 7th, during the Decatur Arts Festival, with a 3 day pop-up show celebrating 25 years since he opened his first gallery. The exhibition includes new works by Ruth Franklin, Harry Underwood, Kosmo Vinyl, Chris Pig, and others. Vinson plans to present quarterly pop-ups at Different Trains, which will be open by appointment between shows.
The Vinson Gallery debuted on Decatur Square in May of 1998, showcasing contemporary paintings and works on paper by an eclectic roster of local and internationally recognized artists for a decade, closing during the 2008 recession. Vinson went on to co-found and manage Different Trains Gallery in Decatur’s Old Depot District and The Waddi in Inman Park (shuttered in late 2022, due to a zoning issue).
The opening reception takes place during the Decatur ArtWalk on Friday, May 5th, from 6-10pm.
