Little Amal, the 12-foot-tall puppet symbolizing a 10-year-old Syrian refugee, is en route to Atlanta on her global journey promoting hope and solidarity for displaced individuals. The Michael C. Carlos Museum, Emory Libraries, and Comedy & Conversations are hosting an event, “Comedy and Conversations: Do we belong here?”, to welcome her. Comedians David Perdue and Munir Meghjani will host, featuring Angel Contreras and Gilbert Lawand. Alpa Amin, Executive Director of Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network (GAIN), and Spelman emeritus professor Arturo Lindsay will join the conversation. The event aims to shed light on refugee issues while embracing Little Amal’s message.

Before the event, the exhibition “You Belong Here: Place, People, and Purpose in Latinx Photography” will be open for viewing from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
