CRITIC’S PICK: Emily Nenni, The EARL—Country singer/songwriter Nenni has been described as a neo-traditionalist due to her high twang quotient and just enough gutsy Loretta Lynn to her sweet/sassy vocals to take you back a few decades when country and western wasn’t as slick and predictable as it has become. She was here a few months ago, but has since released a new album, Drive & Cry, which does sound like Kevn Kinney would appreciate her genuine, honest approach. Regardless, this is the real deal C&W, her original songs are frisky and she delivers them with natural folksy charm. — Hal Horowitz
