CRITIC’S PICK: A special evening of poetry and community is in store when Book Bird of Avondale Estates, the cool little indie bookstore on Locust Street adjacent to Banjo Coffee, celebrates the publication of new books by two esteemed Georgia-based authors.
John Charles Griffin’s ‘Rabbit Box’ vividly renders imagery, characters, dreams and remembrances through a distinctly southern lens while Hester L. Furey’s ‘House of Jars’ interweaves timelines and themes in an exploration of magic, madness, grief and psychic perception.
Both authors will read from and sign copies of their books at the event, which also features a spoken word tribute to poet, author and late former President of the United States Jimmy Carter by Kodac Harrison. Flournoy Holmes, who created the cover of ‘Rabbit Box’ and poster for the Book Bird event, will also be in attendance. – Doug DeLoach
