Ryan Adams: Heartbreaker '25 World Tour

CRITIC’S PICK:
Thurs., July 31
Ryan Adams, The Tabernacle — There was a time not that long ago, that a new album from folk/pop rocker Adams was a major event. But a bunch of career missteps, some self-imposed, some medically associated, sidelined his career when it was peaking. He has since returned in a big way and, as if to make up for lost time, is insanely productive. He delivered no less than five albums in 2024 and another two already this year. Most were met with indifference, although there were some terrific performances… if you could find them. Live, he’s as likely to perform the music of Taylor Swift, Dylan, Oasis and Springsteen — all of whose entire albums he has covered---as his own eclectic originals. Like Neil Young, he’s an unpredictable yet talented auteur and you have no idea what he’ll end up playing, which may be half the fun. — Hal Horowitz
