CRITIC’S PICK: Medusai by Dr. Gil Weinberg, Goat Farm - Inspired by mythical maiden Medusa, this robotic sculpture interacts with onlookers through sound, touch, light and movement. The piece “contemplates the transformational effect of Artificial Intelligence on culture and society, reflecting on the original hopes as well as the risks of AI,” according to creator Dr. Gil Weinberg, founder of the Georgia Tech Center for Music Technology. “Visitors who avoid sudden and accelerated motions may generate musical and artistic responses from Medusai,” we are warned. “Alternately, fast and abrupt movement in front of Medusai’s eyes elicits alarming sounds and threatening motions.” - Kevin C.
