Toad The Wet Sprocket: Good Intentions 2025 Tour

CRITIC’S PICK
Fri., Aug. 22
Toad the Wet Sprocket, KT Tunstall, Sixpence None the Richer, Symphony Hall — Despite their name being derived from a Monty Python skit, there wasn’t much humor, skewed or otherwise, in California’s Toad the Wet Sprocket’s earnest, often chiming folk pop. The band has gone through plenty of breakups and reformations after striking gold with “All I Want” (1991). Since then frontman Glen Phillips left and became a frequent solo visitor to Eddie’s Attic. But Starting Now (2021) album showed a vibrant outfit capable of recreating their sound without seeming cloying or pretentious. KT Tunstall’s husky voice and leathery pop rock still sounds great, especially on the 2023 under-the-radar duo album with the legendary Suzi Quatro. Opener Sixpence None the Richer’s sweet folk/pop (singer Leigh Nash is back on board) makes for a superb triple bill. — Hal Horowitz
