They MIght Be Giants

CRITIC’S PICK:
Fri. Oct. 25
They Might Be Giants, The Eastern — Even the two childhood friends Johns in They Might Be Giants (Flansburgh and Linnell) probably never thought they would be a viable band nearly forty years after their 1986 debut. But here they are, with dozens of albums in their catalog, arguably more popular than ever; enough to book two dates at this spacious venue. Call ‘em quirky popsters if you have to shovel them into a genre but, to their credit, these guys have been all over the place musically throughout the past four decades. They claim to have 80 songs in their repertoire (culled from a few dozen albums) for this tour, which means both nights will be different, albeit with a few “hits” repeated. Between the visuals and peculiar tunes, their show is always engaging, charming and entertaining. — Hal Horowitz
From the venue:
An "Evening with” performance. 8 piece band.
3 horns. 2 sets. 0 openers. Starts early. Gets loud.
They Might Be Giants are in top form and back on the road with their ever-evolving show. Featuring songs from the earliest days of their Dial-A-Song service, through their platinum album Flood, all the way to their Grammy-nominated album BOOK; each night is its own distinct celebration of the band's singular songbook. Backed by their notorious live band now including a three-piece horn section, expect a spontaneous, sprawling, enthralling musical event unlike any other.
