Jess Smith: Lady Smith, A Cappella Books — Poet Jess Smith, originally from Georgia, will read from her debut collection ‘Lady Smith’ and take questions at A Cappella, starting at 3 p.m. Winner of the 2023 Akron Poetry Prize, Smith’s work is said to be “propulsive and erotic, searching and incisive” while exploring the overlap between private and public violence. She has dozens of other writing credits as well. Smith is at present an assistant professor at Texas Tech University, in charge of the Master of Fine Arts course in creative writing.
