CRITIC’S PICK:
The Producers: A Mel Brooks Musical, City Springs Theatre Company — Mel Brooks wrote the music and lyrics for this musical comedy based on his own movie from 1967. A reviewer for ‘The Stage’ calls the show “an entirely irresistible and irrepressible confection.” Its many laughs derive from stinging caricatures of subjects that are usually taboo — Nazis, gays, Jews — as well as showbiz phonies with heavy accents. You’ll be happy to know the infamous ditty ‘Springtime for Hitler’ is reproduced here in all its tawdry glory. - Kevin C. Madigan

Music and Lyrics by Mel Brooks

Book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan

Arguably the funniest musical EVER on Broadway, and inarguably the winningest show in the history of the Tony Awards®, THE PRODUCERS has delighted audiences across the globe. Based on Brooks’ 1968 film of the same name, the plot is simple: a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the biggest flop in Broadway history, thereby bilking their investors (all of whom are “lonely, little old ladies”), and then running away to Rio. Co-written by Mel Brooks (the films Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, and Spaceballs) and Thomas Meehan (the Tony-winning writer of Broadway’s Annie and Hairspray) and with music and lyrics by Mr. Brooks, THE PRODUCERS skewers Broadway traditions and sets the standard for modern, outrageous, in-your-face humor.

The Producers is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI www.mtishows.com

This production contains adult language, adult situations, and includes mention and depictions of Adolf Hitler and Nazis. It is recommended for audiences 13+.
