FRIDAY AND SATURDAY SHOWTIMES: 7:30PM & 9:30PM. Longineu Warren Parsons II is a highly accomplished and versatile musician whose life has been shaped by a deep love of both jazz and classical traditions. A classically trained trumpeter, he holds degrees in music and composition (including advanced studies at the University of Florida), and has supplemented his grounding with jazz studies at Berklee. Over the course of a storied career, he has performed and recorded with legends such as Nat Adderley, Cab Calloway, Sun Ra, Branford Marsalis, Nancy Wilson, and Archie Shepp. Parsons is also an educator: he serves as an Associate Professor of Music at Florida A&M University, where he mentors the next generation of musicians in trumpet, composition, and jazz studies.
When you come to see Longineu Parsons II perform, you’ll experience a master interpreter, one who not only honors musical traditions but also expands them. He often leads the Longineu Parsons Ensemble, a band that has appeared at The Velvet Note in Alpharetta to great acclaim.  The ensemble has featured luminaries like Nat Adderley Jr. and talented supporting musicians drawn from Parsons’ rich musical network. Seeing him live at The Velvet Note means witnessing a dynamic, soulful, and deeply expressive concert — one that blends technical brilliance with emotional depth. I warmly encourage you to take in a show there: prepare to be moved by one of jazz’s truly multifaceted voices.
