Occasional hometown boy Elton John recently released the high-profile T-Bone Burnett-produced album The Diving Board, and has been slinging out the hits to high rollers in Vegas. That victory lap pays the bills, but doesn’t speak much to artistic integrity. Similarly, the nearly $200 price tag for a non-nosebleed seat here also guarantees you won’t get too many new (i.e., bathroom break) songs. Those old ones still sound great, though, and the rocking pianist’s indefatigable energy and well-deserved status as an icon provides the rest.
